Run for Women, more than just a race

Every year, thousands of people run and walk the downtown streets of Anchorage at the annual Run for Women. The Run for Women is one of the largest all-women runs in the whole nation and since it’s conception in 1993, $4.4 million in cash and donated mammograms have been raised and distributed to organizations associated with breast cancer. The donated mammograms go to low-income women to ensure that everyone receives the testing and treatment they deserve. The event is completely volunteer-run.

Making Strides in Anchorage

On Saturday, Sept. 29 Anchorage will come together for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Run & Walk. Patients, survivors, caregivers and people who care about making progress in breast cancer research and treatment will spend the day celebrating and encouraging each other. You can register online for the walk/run or sign up at the check-in table on the day of the event.
