As a cancer survivor you are, no doubt, relieved to be finished with active treatment. You are probably uncertain about what will come next — and you are beginning to realize there is a lot more to healing from cancer than completing the medical treatments.
After you have finished your radiation treatments at Anchorage (or Valley) Radiation Therapy Center you will have an opportunity to schedule a private appointment with our nurse practitioner experienced in cancer survivorship. Here are a few tips on how to get the most from your visit:
Write down everything you want to discuss before your appointment. You may also want to keep a diary, recording the date and time of any symptoms you have, any treatments you used, and whether or
not they were helpful. All this will help you make sure you cover all your questions and concerns.
Ask a friend or relative to come with you. They can act as a second set of ears and help you understand anything that isn’t clear.
Talk about your feelings. It is common for cancer survivors to feel anxious, fearful, or depressed. You will feel better if you talk about these issues and Muff may be able to help you.
