First Visit

Preparing For Your First Visit

Please watch this video providing an overview of radiation therapy

We’re here to help you through this next chapter and ready for any questions you may have before, during or after treatment. A few things to keep in mind for your first visit:

  • Save time by downloading and completing your patient forms ahead of time.
  • Bring your insurance card(s) with you.
  • Write down everything you want to discuss with your doctor. Include all of your questions, big and small. We do our best to cover all the bases, but it helps if you have your list as well.
  • Ask a friend or relative to come with you. This is an overwhelming, emotional time, and besides helping you to feel a bit more comfortable, they can act as a second set of ears and help you understand anything that isn’t clear.

During your visit, don’t be afraid to ask questions

  • Ask your doctor to explain anything you don’t understand. Make sure you know what to expect during and after your treatment. Feel free to bring a list with you.
  • If this is not your first treatment, be sure to tell your doctor about any unusual side effects. This will help the doctor customize your treatment plan.

Sample questions:

  • What will happen (is happening) to my body as a result of my treatment?
  • What is the purpose of this treatment?
  • Can I expect any side effects from this treatment?
  • What should I do if I experience side effects?
  • When should I return for a follow-up visit?
