There may still be snow on the ground, but the days are quickly getting longer, which means spring is right around the corner. Don’t allow treatment to stop you from getting out and being active. Not only will it get your heart pumping, it can increases your energy level. Here’s a look at some low-impact ways you can get out and enjoy the sights and sounds of spring.
Freeze a moment in time
An easy and inspiring way to get out of the house is to go for a walk and take some pictures that “spark joy.” Even if it’s just walking to the end of your driveway and taking a picture of the sunrise or a flock of birds flying in from the south, you’ll get a few extra steps and a breath of fresh air. Plus, by the end of spring, you’ll have an amazing photo album you can share with your friends and family.
Make a splash
One of the best low-impact exercises you can do is go for a swim. It’s one of the best whole-body exercises around because it requires you to use pretty much all the major muscles. Attend a light water aerobics class. Even during a 1-hour session you can burn a significant number of calories. Check your local pool schedule to see what’s available near you.
Pedal it out
Feel the fresh air on your face and a cool breeze through your hair – now is the best time to dust off your bike and take a ride. Compared to most other exercises, biking causes less strain and injuries. Just like swimming, you’ll use all of the major muscles as you pedal and it’s a fun way to get fit.
